Here's my painted Predator Missle! It's not as clean as I'd like it, so that kind of bugs me.
(The pink is Bondo that I forgot to paint)

The blaster can't really operate a hopper, so I made a flaming speedloader!

Also, here is my painted Spectre shell. It is currently broken, so thats why it's just the shell. I left the tip orange for safety (not pictured). Also, the color of red on the handle is different from the other color of red. They look identical. The handle is cherry red drybrushed on because I like the feel of drybrush. I had to mix colors to match them.

Edit:

For some reason I brought my camera into the basement, so I decided to take a picture of my favorites wall!

(My dad owns a boat store so he has a bunch of pegboard laying around that he doesn't use!)

And here is my broken pile. I plan on fixing all of these blaster or replacing there internals.

How many times have you painted that Mini NF?

To go along with that white, red and black paintjob, here is my Nite'n Load!

Up close on the epic handle detail:

Here's a picture of it primed and with it's breach open.

It gets right around 50ft. flat with slugs and a little over 60ft. with glue domes.

Lightly. The leftover paint acts as primer for it though

Never thought of doing it that way. Now wonder the paint on my Nite'n Load stuck so well!

2nd one:

NEW QUADSHOT

I did the "Deep blue" color scheme on this one.... it looks worn and beat up in person. I used a black wash, then went over it with a water down silver so it looks like brushed metal. The for the handle I put some sand paper on my thumb to scrape off paint where it'd be worn

Mods:
Paintjob
 7 inch barrels
LS spring addition
reinforced
Catch spring relocation
air seal upgrade

Yeah, it's an evolution of Jerm's. The barrels go all the way back, so it hits 40'-50', and could probable support longer barrels.

Here are some new and some old projects of mine...

My newly finished, singled, zero deadspace longshot. This thing is beast. It shoots holes through cardboard with slugs.

That is my TTG. I call it the Techfinder because it has an NF plunger tube in it.

My dead AZTS. The catch broke and I can't fix it. Its a shame to. I loved it when it worked. And this is one of my best paint jobs.

I took these so foamkiller28 could make some decisions and realized they show alot of stuff I haven't posted.

A start on the sights for a tek3 turret. The curved profile added to the back of the turret allows you to prime with the o-ring exposed a bit to get a better gulp of air during priming.

Different trigger and front shapes. Note the straight, skeletonized trigger. The very small front profile/trigger (second pic) is nice in the hand and for integrations. Thinning the trigger supports helps with ergo and weight. I've chopped 30% or so off the trigger pins on a few without issue.

The missile adapter is a piece of polyester(?) material that is fairly sturdy. It was packing materials. The missile is probably from that squeeze bulb dollar store toy.

The skeletonized trigger and barrel crenelation is helpful with aim.

The second pic shows the removal of the stock back plate and my first go at cleanup there. This slims down a jolt and can be useful for integrations as far as securing the jolt or working it in somewhere.

I like the clear orange vinyl tubing on the priming bar with the shoelace. Nice for integrations too.

The coupler shaped up a bit. Weight can be saved here.

5 shot Jolt. It uses (so far) a lightweight .8", looser fitting dart. It loads from the front. Good performance & accuracy too. The 5th shot is a stroke of luck that just worked when I tried shoving an extra (tight fitting) dart down the barrel. Ranges are 35',32',25',20' & 10'. I am still using the stock spring and need to make different weight & fit darts. A follower in the hopper may work and tighten ranges.

The nano is more consistent so far. Still needs tweaking.

Breeched and externally banded NF. The bands didn't give me too much range. I already had a strong spring. It did increase dart speed and accuracy. It finally got me to 100' too. A knot holds the bands to the priming rod. The priming rod is shaped to a sort of notch to hold the bands. I added foam and cloth tape to cushion both the priming rod and to keep the bands breaking. The cleat is CPVC. The front sight is the chopped up barrel from the stock NF (it works by clipping on).

Some older stuff, and some newer stuff.

Upgraded my RCBC, now has a real stock, a much comfier priming handle, and a superlative plungerhead.

Inlined NF, currently has a crayola inside it do push it down to almost stock range, also has a super useful hoster.

The world's smallest barrelbreak just got smaller. Not to comfy, though.

Some pistol resurrections, a BBUSB and a wipeout w/a superlative and 1" PVC plunger tube.

Not sure if I've posted this before, but my hoppered Reactor.

Q16, Stefanclipped, powerstocked, not-quite-angel-breached, jams every shot like a boss.

AND LASTLY: A grenade/bang/snowball/etc. thrower.

If I get some time, I'll try to fix up the pics with Photobucket's semi-useful editing software.

I looked at your picture more after that post, and I noticed something. You have the wire for your firing pin at an angle. You NEED to redo this, it has to pull straight back on the pin, or it will end up bending, and over time, it will no longer seel. My friend made a grenade launcher before, and he pulled the trigger at an angle. It no longer works.

What's the difference between a "ported" valve and a normal one?  It looks like all you did was cut the front cross in half.

Title: Re: Modification and Paint jobs thread.
Post by: Nerf Doctor on March 14, 2012, 07:49:53 pm
That's probably it, just cutting the front alignment cross out a little to allow better flow.

Title: Re: Modification and Paint jobs thread.
Post by: iamthatcat on March 14, 2012, 08:53:05 pm
The orange cross is about 1/3 the length it was which helps a bit. That's the reason for the "stop" behind the blast valve. To keep it from jamming open. Cutting out the center of the cross and enlarging/chamfering the black and white bit of the tank as much as I dared helped too. Still needs work to reach the full potential but fun.

I don't know if I have seen something quite like this although I have seen simlilar things. It's an absolver with 4 inline clips. I still have to test it as the glue is just drying now.

Here's the stuff I did at the back of the absolver with acrylic sheet. I haven't tested to see if manifolds help or hinder but I figured I'd try one here.

Edit : 3 pumps sends all the darts in the clips flying.. Lol. About 6 of them landed at 75' and the rest trailed behind a bit. Oops. I have to try tighter darts and fewer pumps but it's dark now.

Shotcannon v 1.0. Oh god. It's ridiculous. Still needs a real trigger. I want to try 1", light silicone darts for it. It covers alot of square feet in darts out to 80'. It fires about 50 at once! It holds 80. You can do close range shots with one pump.

I tried this out today and got decent performance and fine feeding. Ranges were 90' with decent accuracy. I think I can likely hit a smaller target at range with my NF. So kinda a bust. I didn't get the chance to do a longer clip since I didn't feel like disturbing the goop on the wye. I really would have to make a new one anyways for the sspb.

If I could expand the tank again and add a new pump this might be cool. A longer barrel may help accuracy. I'll likely try a turret once I do a pump replacement. I am trying to come up with something primary worthy out of a sspb.

Super Mauser: The clip is removeable, and it still needs a few more features, like a barrel leash and some sort of cover for the exposed brass, and maybe some work on the plunger seal. It was originally going to be a STEN/Mauser hybrid, but it would've been a lot more work, would've had too much deadspace, and might not have been an ergonomic prime. At least this design has almost no deadspace, so it gets the same range it would if it were singled. It has an ACE#49.
That last pic was a spacer and screw port combo, almost all of the screwports in that area were destroyed, and the front PT mounting bracket was broken earlier, so I made this thing for it to hold the PT/breech to the shell. It's rather sturdy.

Minimized BBB, has a washer (cup?) seal and a PVC coupler, and two slicghtly cut down ACE#49's in there. I only took off two coils at the most from each spring, but they fit really well in there. I think one shot got to 105' w/a 12" barrel, but it was a nuthead-esque dart, not my regular size hotglue dome.

And finally, some of my pictures look okay.

I've finally decided to take pictures of all of my guns.

First is my barricade. It has a 9volt battery mod, and it accepts clips.

Here is my Reflex rifle. It was easier for me to put the LSFG handle on the pump than make the Reflexes trigger work with it. And it's comfier.

Here is my other primary, along with my plusbow. My LAHB (aka 4b). It's coulplered with a hopper. Shoots mad far and accurate.

Next is my stampede. It's minimized with a 9.6 volt RC batter, and it has an AZTS spring in it. It shoots about 70 ft. flat, and it's my stock dart primary. I take part in stock dart wars a lot.

Next my two primaries together...

Thanks Cat. In stock dart wars, I carry my Stampede as a primary, and my Barricade on sling (that's why I have the folding stock). I might use the Stampede outside, too. Just imagine 18 darts coming at you...

I don't really know if my reflex is more ergo or not, but I like foregrips, and the reflex handle makes a nice one.

It's Exostein's Monster! I had an old NF shell that had an ugly PJ on it, so I scraped it off, but there were some areas that were hard to get, but I liked it because it looked like dirt and grime, so I enhanced that effect, and added some blood. The bolt helps the effect a little bit. I also added a wood foregrip I had for another NF project that never happened, and I had some custom internals that were mostly experimental. The tube is a sink drain, so it has the same ID as 1.25" PVC, except it's much thinner (OD is smaller), and the inside is perfectly smooth, just like a stock PT. I used aluminium U-channel for the plunger rod, so all of the moving parts (spring not counted) weigh only 61 grams. It uses a spring I got from DIB, it has a 5.5" draw, but may be a bit weaker than ACE 49's. There are actually two stains on the wood, and I wanted to go for three (one just in the grooves) and a clear coat, but this thing was supposed to be done a week ago, so I just hurried it through.

Considering your name you should make a Pool themed blaster.

like makitgo's crutch? but a pool cue.

I was thinking paint job, but that would be wicked.

I haven't posted anything in awhile.....

My panther with an integrated SSPB. The SSPB has a breech, but it works better if I shove darts down the front.

I wanted to do something special with my firestrike, so I decided to replace the plunger tube with a 1 1/8in. polycarb tube. I also replace the seal and threw a part of a K25 into it.

Longshot with front gun integration.  I spent a couple hours on a writeup for this, my browser kindly crashed as I was copying the whole thing to back it up.

There's also a camera mount I put in on the top, it'll hold my Sony HDR-PJ260 with ease, so that's neat.

Yeah, this is very lazy, all I did was drill a hole and stick a bolt/washer through and throw a rubber gasket I cut up on top. Works great though.

That integration is super clean, Yks. Especially with no body or paint. Nice job.
