I was thinking it would be cool if HoF did another contest for the summer to try to get more members.If we could get FU or Nrev to help us advertise, then I think it could be a big hit. Or we could partner up with Taerkitty or something, since he did the crappies contest. I just don't really know what it should be about. The external mod contest did horribly, FU just had a mod contest, and Nrev tried to do a homemade contest. I was leaning toward homemade, just because we're kind of in a homemade arms race with all the new blasters, and the bullpup craze. So, what do you guys think?

I'd love to have a contest here. Maybe a tech development contest, not necessarily homemades or production mods. I've got a few ideas that I haven't done anything with that I think could be good places to start. Maybe like: tube mags, homemade flywheels, homemade clip systems, just have people build stuff that no one's tried before.

I don't know how much or be able to participate, July is non-existent for me because I'm going to rose-hulman in Indiana for the summer enginnering program.

I won't have much free time in July either, my family always rents a cottage at a lake near us. A development contest would be cool, but we would not have a lot of ways to judge it. A clip making contest would be  cool. I would love to see something better than the hopper, that is hardware-store-able. Any more ideas, people?

I think either August or September... Although, I will probably not enter due to the fact I would be blown out of the water.

Crank-powered homemades only! No ones built anything like it, and anything we produced would be the first of it's kind.

So, exotic homemade? I would have to build the prize in early August if we ended it in September, because I have no free time in September. Crank-powered homemade would be cool. Maybe a different pulpusion contest/priming method contest? An outside-the-box contest. I like it.

Well, Pedoonis on NH just announced a contest with pretty nice prizes, so I don't think ours would manage to snag much attention at this time.

I thought maybe a originality contest, the more original and groundbreaking the higher the score...

Tell me if I'm wrong, but after seeing half of Cat's pics deleted (from what I see, tell me if I'm wrong) and him not posting every other day (like he usually does) I think means that he's gone.......

That is basically the trend of the members on our website. I think it's only me and you now, Zero. I like the originality contest. Creative, wacky stuff is always good. We could open it to everything (including darts). What does the silent majority think  (haha, I quoted Nixon).

As I prize, I could off a RBPistol with a 1/8in. ID plunger tube. I have lots of scrap left from my Tbow...

We'll need a second and third place prizes but in order to get members and entries we could change our tag things in our sigs from others sties from, "Come join our Home Of Foam," To, "Want a free RBPistol?  Join our contest now!"

Ya, that'd work Lein. I don't think I could offer too much of a second place prize, and we need some substantial entries for that. I would like at least 6 to hand out the RBPistol. Also, I have little internet access during July, so we need to get this contest set up before July.

If it's a "make the craziest thing to come out of your mind" contest, then I'm good to go, no matter when the date is, I'm almost done with my potential entry.

Ok guys, we need to finalize the contest theme. What are the rules for the crazies contest? I know I'll be a judge, and Zero will (most likely) be one. 1st place is an RBpistol, and we need 6 people entering. I'll say it can last until october 18, just to make the date long enough to get a lot of entries. We need a little bit more feadback then what we are getting at the moment, people!

Hmmmm rules.... As of now I'm trying to come up with a good point system, and I'm also trying to think up what should not be allowed, and what should be allowed, any suggestions on that?

Originality, implementability, and cleanliness. And, clever use of existing parts to do away with exotic parts. Maybe also a bonus point provision for hardwar store only builds.

I was thinking about reproducability, cost, and writeup quality. I like what Exo posted, also, and they should be added to my list (but if it's a "crazy" contest, I don't really think cleanliness matters.) I think everything should be allowed, unless it is dangerous. If their are any lurkers out their with ideas, post them for gosh sake!

Edit: I would also like a different forum to help support us. Nhaven and NHQ are out, so that leaves Nrev and FU. We have internal ties with FU, but those ties are a brother, and you know how they are, so I was leaning more towards Nrev. Also, it would be cool if we could get a blog to help us out. I'm friends with an author of Acenerfer's blog, but I kind of want something... bigger.

I would ask Vince and Rouge first.  If they say go for it then PM taerkitty and see if he'll help because he's great at hoese kind of things (I'm guaranteeing that if he enters he'll get a "0" in the cleanliness part of the contest.

It depends, what kind of assistance do you need, I may be able to work something out, depending on what you exactly mean. Also, even if, K1LL is a pretty cool dude too, he would probably let us do something.

I was leaning more towards advertising than anything else. K1LL would probably let us do something, but I figured it was best to ask the head boss man. Vince is pretty cool, but I've PM'd Rogue before, and he tends to ignore you (I was even going to sell him LS parts). Vince and Ozzy would probably be the ones to ask. NMaR would probably post something if we ask. I'm not really asking any other forum to judge, unless they want too, I just want to advertise more than just a link in our sig.

Mega would probably let us do it...

Ok, we need to get something together tomorrow, or I'm leaving it to Zero to plan. So, what we have so far:

-We can probably get Nrev. Vincent, Ozzy, and Ambience are the ones to PM. I might do this if I get a thread up by tomorrow.

-FU will probably let us. Zero doesn't need to PM Mega, he lives with him.

-The things we will be judging are: Originality, reproducibility, craziness, use of unexpected parts, cost, and writeup quality. I don't know what the scale will be. I guess something like 1 to 8, just to be different

-1st prize is an RBpistol, if we get at least 7 entries.

-All entries must be posted on HoF, unless we partner with another site. If it is posted on HoF, you'll get a certain advantage, though. Maybe 3 extra points.

-It will start whenever we post the official post, and end sometime in October.

-Me and Zero are the judges, and possibly more if we partner with more sites.

-Their is a possible of 48 points, unless you post your writeup on HoF, and then theirs 50.

-We'll finish judging when we reach a decision. No specific date.

-We'll ask germ and maybe Acenerfer if they will post a link to this on their blog.

-More stuff that I'm probably forgetting, seeing as I posting this as quick as I can for enough people to see it before tomorrow.

If their is anything I'm forgetting, please let me know.

Tech, the date is not quite set, yet, what will it be, any feed back on what you think should be the starting and finishing date should would help as well, thank you.

It's already started, and ends October 26th. It says so in the thread.

I didn't see the actual starting date in the official... OK so all things that anybody has can start to be posted alright, thanks.

You should probably take a pic of the prize and show it so people know what the prize is.  

The judging criteria is also loosely defined so people might not be totally clear on what a winning submission would be.

Just my 2 cents, I think its a cool idea for a contest and I hope you end up pushing the end date back and try to promote it a bit more.

1: OK I will tell that to Tech when I see him on next, as I believe he is the one providing the prize.

2: The crazier, and more effective the better.

3: The contest will not end until we have at least 5 to 7 contestants.

I do need to build the RBpistol. I've built rainbow catches before. I'm familiar with the catch and instalation.
