Hey, I just wanted some input on a mod that a friend of mine and I are going to attempt to do. The modification is a combination of the Firefly and Nitefinder, with the front barrel of the NF being replaced by the rotating FF turret. There's a diagram I drew up which I'll post as soon as I can take a higher-res pic of it.

The NF was already modded by me. Before I removed the air restrictors, I had gotten the range of the NF up to above fifty, in some cases almost seventy feet of range outside. That may partially be due to my custom dart mod I came up with, a Streamline body with the head removed and a Sharpie cap, sand the slip, slid all the way on.

So, input, suggestions, criticisms? All are welcome.

I'm NOT trying to be a jerk, but these are angled ranges, right? My unholy NF only gets 65 (flat) with slug darts, and it has one of the strongest (if not the strongest) spring combo for a NF. It doesn't have that great of a seal, though... Most people report flat ranges, not angled. Angled ranges have to many variables.

Anyway, this thread should help, even though I have never opended up or seen the inside of a firefly...

You could use this, just apply it to the FF turret.

Yeah, the  seventy-plus ranges were with the NF angled up at about 25-30°. The link you posted would work pretty well, KiDD, but part of the point of this mod is to make the Fly-by-Nite (the suggested name my friend came up with) a kind of... manual machine pistol, where the turret rotates and all you have to do is pull back the plunger handle and pull the trigger.

Also, I noticed that when I pulled the peg out of  the NF's front barrel to try to remove the ARs that the range and accuracy both deceased by about fifteen percent. Any ideas as to what I messed up? I also chiseled out the support that held that peg in.

Well, If you really want any power or accuracy, you need to invest in a set of barrels. CPVC works great, PVC parts are more common, so just put the CPVC inside the PVC, and you'll be able to attatch CPVC to PVC parts.

Second, gutting a FF isn't all that helpful because FF's primary thing is speed, so singled FF's aren't going to be much use. Not only that, but you'll have to manually rotate the turret after each shot.

NF's are nice, light, guns; and should stay that way. If you want to put a turrreted speedloader on a NF, go ahead, because that method uses a coupler on the gun anyways, so you'd be able to remove the turret and put on a single barrel in two seconds. you could also look at http://nerfhaven.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21531 THAT to get some ideas for turrets.

I have nothing against killing a FF to add some ammo to a NF, but FF turrets are HEAVY, and you'll want to find the optimum barrel length for the gun BEFORE you go and rebarrel a FF.

Okay, I just reread all the above posts, and It sounds like you are attempting to make a somewhat common stlye of gun, just going about it in the wrong way.

ALTERNATIVE #1: Cut down the back of the firefly until it feels more like a pistol.
ALTERNATIVE #2: Put and RSCB or an inline clip on the NF.
ALTERNATIVE #3: Rearrange a Magstrike.
ALTERNATIVE #4: 18V a Barricade.  Shocked
ALTERNATIVE #5: Minimize a Swarm fire.
AND MANY, MANY OTHERS!

Those are all great ideas, but the point was to recycle a broken FF and use that to make a new gun.

Wow, I really have to start manually spellchecking stuff.

Please capitilize, and work harder on your posts. You had a lot of typos in that one. I haven't seen many on your other posts, though, so this could just be a mess up.

Wow, yeah, that post is rife with mistakes... I hate to be the guy that blames the crappy grammar and spelling he has on his phone, but my Android is weird; I can type a long sentence and it won't actuay register the typing for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

I'm usually a Nazi about grammar, but only in my own posts. I'm not too hot on criticisms, unless the post in question is as bad as my previous post.

Its okay. Where not like NH over here. You can make mistakes. We won't ban anyone for spelling errors, either. We'll just annoy them to improve it Grin. Your posts are rather good, though. Mine have more spelling mistakes than yours do!

Yeah, from lurking on NH before I ever tried to register, I gleaned that pretty quickly. They seem like a bunch of pompous pricks.
